Blur

Blur was formed in London in 1988 by Albarn, guitarist Graham Coxon, bassist Alex James, and drummer Dave Rowntree. The band released their debut album, Leisure, in 1991, which was a commercial success. However, it was their second album, Modern Life Is Rubbish (1993),that established Blur as a critical and commercial force. The album's lead single, "Girls & Boys," was a number one hit in the UK, and the album itself was nominated for a Mercury Prize.

Blur continued to release successful albums throughout the 1990s, including Parklife (1994),The Great Escape (1995),and Blur (1997). Gorillaz
